Yin/Yang Yoga coming to Thursday evenings at The Firehouse
Beginning this week, there will be a schedule change on Thursday evenings. Our 7:15 p.m. class will no longer be Moon Over Cleveland Yoga & Singing Bowls. Instead, Nicole Tuzzio-Rheinberger will be leading a weekly Yin/Yang practice.
Yin yoga and Yang yoga are based on the ancient Chinese principles of Yin (passive & restorative) and Yang (flowing and energetic). Yang yoga is a steady flowing, fluid practice using the rhythm of the breath, influenced by the movements of Qi Gong. Yang yoga incorporates movements which are circular and spiral in nature, with an emphasis on following your body’s natural instinctive movements. Yin yoga is a slow, quiet practice in which postures are held for as long as 4-5 minutes (mostly while seated in some fashion on the floor) which benefits our ligaments, fascia and connective tissue.
