Governor DeWine Mandates Masks in Level Red Counties

Governor Mike DeWine has announced that as of 6:00 p.m. on July 8th, masks or face coverings are required in public (including all indoor places of business) in Cuyahoga County, as well as all other counties that are at a threat level red for COVID-19. As such, we are updating our mask policy, effective immediately.

In addition to teachers and staff, now all students must wear face masks in the studio for the duration of class. (Students were previously required to wear them during entry, set-up, and when leaving class but could remove them, if needed, while situated on their mats and class was in progress.) Students will be allowed to bring their own water bottle to class and take a sip or two as needed, but otherwise, masks are to remain in place the entire time students are in the building.

Simultaneous online classes will be available for each studio class, for those who don’t wish to wear a mask or are otherwise not ready to practice in the studio.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Studio Classes Return June 1st

As of June 1st, we begin our return to the firehouse under the guidelines set forth by the Ohio Department of Health. Studio classes will resume with the following protocols:

  • Class size will be limited to a maximum of five students, and pre-registration is required. Registration for in-studio classes will close two hours before start time.
  • The studio will be open 10 minutes before class.
  • Students must bring their own yoga mat and blanket or towel (if desired).
  • Mats must be rolled out at one of the marked spaces.
  • Masks or face coverings are required during entry, check-in, and when leaving the studio. Masks are encouraged during practice. Should you need to remove it, please do so ONLY when situated on your mat and while class is in session.
  • Instructors will wear masks at all times.
  • Proper social distancing must be observed at all times. No socializing before or after class.
  • Students are encouraged to bring their own props. Studio blocks may be used, but blankets, straps, and bolsters will not be available for the time being.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in the studio, as well as soap, sanitizer, and hand lotion in the restroom. Students must either wash or sanitize their hands upon arrival.
  • The upstairs lockers will not be available for use. Please bring only what is necessary and keep personal belongings by your mat. Phones must be turned off.
  • No lost and found.

For those who still wish to join us at home, an online option will remain available for all studio classes. To register, simply visit the Class Schedule and choose either Studio or Online. Pricing info can be found here.

Some classes will in the studio the week of June 1st. Some will be returning later in the month or later this summer. A few classes will remain online only for the time being. Here is the roll-out schedule so far:

Down Dog for City Dogs in April

Down Dog for City Dogs in April

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have suspended in person, group classes until further notice. This was a difficult decision, but we felt it was the best way to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and the community at large.

In the meantime, we’ll be offering a handful of our classes online, including this month’s Down Dog for City Dogs event!

Nicole will lead this month’s class via live video feed, and all proceeds will still go to support City Dogs Cleveland. Class will be all-levels friendly, and the video broadcast will be provided by Zoom. Simply log on to the studio website and register as you normally would for our in person classes. Once registered, all you have to do is log back on to our website Sunday morning, locate the class on the Class Schedule tab, and click the View Broadcast link. (You must be logged in to see the link.)

If you plan on joining us via phone or tablet, Zoom will ask you to download their app. If you join via PC or laptop, you will be asked for a name and email address to be transferred to the class feed, but you will not need to set up a separate Zoom account or create a password.

The planned playlist theme is Rock Hall, in honor of the induction ceremony that would have taken place in Cleveland this month. Nicole has created a playlist featuring this year’s class and some favorite past inductees. Playlist is available on both Spotify and Apple Music, in case anyone wants to listen along at home. OR, you may choose to play your favorite Rock Hall inductee at home, either past or 2020 class. (Student mics will be muted once class begins, so individual music will not interfere with the class broadcast.)

We hope you can join us!

Sunday, April 26th @ 10:00 a.m.
Online Donation – Since donations cannot be made in person this month, class registration is set up with a $10 per student donation fee. All proceeds go to City Dogs Cleveland.

Register here to join us online.

New Pricing for Online Classes

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all in-studio classes have been suspended until further notice. We are offering a selection of online classes each week (see Class Schedule tab), and we have implemented new pricing during this time.

You can now join any of our regular, weekly online classes for either $5 or $10, whichever works best for you. Both of those options are available below, as well as on the Class Schedule tab when you choose a specific class.

Our previous, in-studio pricing options also remain active. If you have a current 5 or 10-Class Pass or an unlimited New Student Pass, you may continue to use those online if you wish. Or, you can choose to save them for when we are able to re-open the studio. (We will extend expiration dates.) Likewise, you may also purchase new 5 or 10-Class Passes, try out our $40 one-month unlimited New Student Pass (if you’re new to Firehouse Yoga), or even purchase a single online class at the in-studio drop in rate.

Our intention is to make yoga as accessible and affordable as possible to everyone during this tumultuous time.

Thank you for continuing to support local small business!

Classes Suspended Due to COVID-19

We have made the difficult decision to suspend in person, group classes for the rest of the month. We’re in uncharted territory and with the situation changing daily, we felt that this decision was best for the health and safety of our students, staff, and the community at large. We will reevaluate April and beyond based on updated information and recommendations at that time.

In the meantime, we’re going online! This weekend, we successfully tested a live video class platform and it integrated seamlessly with our current booking and check-in software. We’ll be rolling out an adjusted video class schedule starting tomorrow. Some classes will be regular, paid sessions, but we’ll also be offering some free community classes and meditation sessions through our video platform as well.

We will be contacting everyone who is currently registered for any upcoming classes. We will also continue to post updated information as it becomes available here, as well as on Facebook & Instagram.

Stay safe. Be well.

Nicole & the entire Firehouse Yoga staff

COVID-19 Update: Starting to set up video classes

We tested out a video class  this morning, and for a first attempt, it went really well. We are being proactive in looking for ways to continue to provide yoga to the community while keeping folks safer and reducing the risk of coronavirus transmission. There will be another video class test tomorrow morning (Sunday 3/15). After that, we plan to start rolling out some virtual class options and making them available for registration.

We are continually assessing the situation and making decisions on a day by day basis. We’re in uncharted territory for sure, but our number one priority is the health and safety of our students and staff. Check here often or find us on social media for updates, and please feel free to reach out directly if you have any questions or concerns.

We’re still here.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to take every step possible to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.

For now, the studio remains open. However, we are allowing each individual teacher to decide whether to continue their own classes or put them on hold for a bit. As a co-op, we wish to honor each other’s personal situation and allow each teacher to decide what’s best for them.

As of now, most classes are still on. Staff will remain in continual contact, and the class schedule will be updated accordingly. Any changes will be announced here, as well as on social media, but always check the class registration page before signing up or dropping in, as that will be the final authority on which classes are still a go. You can find that here:

If you are feeling ill, we ask that you please stay home. If you’ve already registered for class, we’re happy to either issue a refund or extend credit for a future class. As this is a changing situation and schedule interruptions are a possibility, we are also prepared to extend expiration dates on class packages if needed.

We will be cleaning the studio and sanitizing props after each class. There will also be extra sanitizing wipes at the studio for your safety and convenience. If you would be more comfortable bringing your own props along with your mat — blocks, straps, blankets, etc. — please feel free to do so.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation, make any necessary changes, and keep everyone updated.
